The Worcester Wolves have recruited their first import player for the 2019/20 Season.

Mark Hughes joins from Wright State Raiders signing his first professional contract and becomes Coach Matt Newby’s second signing.

Graduating with a degree in Sports Science, the 6ft 4 guard comes off the back of his senior year of college at Wright State where he averaged 9.23 points, 2.91 assists and 4.26 rebounds.

Mark also represented the United States Basketball Association (USBA) Team USA U22 at an international tournament in China this summer.

Head Coach Matt Newby is excited to work with Mark Hughes.

“I am really pleased with this signing, Mark is a pedigree player from a pedigree program.

He has the ability to play a combination of roles on the perimeter and I am excited to see the impact he can have in a Wolves Jersey.

Defensively he was a standout in the Horizon League and a lynchpin of Wright State’s defence.

His maturity and discipline are high order character traits which will help him make the transition to the professional game.

I hope the Wolf Pack will embrace this young man and identify with what he brings to the floor, resilience, toughness and character.”

Mark is looking forward to starting his professional career with Worcester.

“I am excited for the opportunity to play for Coach Newby and start my professional Career with such a great organisation.

I am looking forward to playing for the Worcester Wolves and showing the Wolf Pack what I can do”
