Gtech Renews Sponsorship of Worcester Wolves for Third Year
Worcester Wolves Basketball Club is delighted to announce that Worcester firm Gtech will continue its sponsorship of the team for the third year in a row.
The Warndon-based company, which designs and manufactures cordless electrical appliances, has renewed its deal as one of the main sponsors of the British Basketball League side, owned by the University of Worcester. Last season the team finished in fifth place and narrowly missed out on a place in the play-off final.
Nick Grey, owner of Gtech, said: “The end of last season was fantastic; the team were playing the best basketball in the league and we really thought they were going to make it to the O2 [Arena final] and it was just a great buzz. We couldn’t wait for this season to start and for the guys to all get back together again.
“For anyone who hasn’t been to a game yet, go. It’s a great night out. These players have travelled from all over the world and play to a very high standard. Basketball is a fast game and the atmosphere is electric when they are in full flow.”
Wolves Managing Director, Mick Donovan, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Gtech again. They have become an integral part of the Wolves family and support us in so many ways as one of our main sponsors.”
This year the Worcester Wolves has consolidated its squad with a number of experienced players, including Dallin Bachynski and George Beamon, while retaining familiar faces Ashton Khan, Alejandro Navajas, Jermel Kennedy and Dominic Ives.
Despite a loss in the club’s first game of the season, at the University of Worcester Arena, Mr Grey said the team look “awesome”.
“They had a tough test when a strong London team came up, but we held our own for a long part of the game,” he added.
“The coaching staff are really strong so the team tends to improve, throughout the season. They could be in for some silverware!”
