Worcester Wolves Brings in Point Guard Elvisi Dusha
Worcester Wolves Basketball Club has signed experienced BBL player Elvisi Dusha ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Dusha comes to the University of Worcester-owned side after finishing last season at BBL Trophy finalists Plymouth Raiders, where he averaged 3.5 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game.
Before this, the 6ft 2in point guard was at Surrey Scorchers from 2013 to 2016, averaging 6.1 points, 2.5 rebound and 2 assists per game during the 2015/16 season.
Dusha said: “I am delighted to be a part of such an excellent organisation, looking forward to working with the coaching staff and very excited to show the Wolf Pack what I can do.”
The 23-year-old has also played in teams across Europe including Germany’s Regionaliga side Giants Dusseldorf and more recently Sigal Prishtina, who play in the Balkan International Basketball League.
The Albanian British national played for Great Britain’s Under 18 and Under 20 teams, but has recently switched to represent Albania in the Basketball World Cup 2019 European Pre-qualifiers.
Paul James, Wolves Head Coach, said: “I’m happy that we have been able to sign Elvisi Dusha. He has good BBL experience and has shown what a tough player he can be when given the opportunity. He’s the kind of player that every team needs – very positive, competitive and a will to do whatever it takes for the team to be successful.”
James added: “Dusha will team up with Ashton Khan to share the point guard responsibilities. This will also enable us to free up George Beamon and play him at the shooting guard position where he will be able to show his scoring abilities as well.”
Dusha will now join the team for pre-season training ahead of the team’s two friendly games this year; the first against Bristol Flyers on Monday September 18 and the other against Sheffield Sharks on Friday September 22. Season ticket holders have free entry for the games, whilst non-season ticket holders can buy their tickets for just £5.
The team will play in the first-ever British Basketball All-Stars Championship at the o2 Arena on September 24.
They then face London Lions in their first British Basketball League game of the season on September 29, at the University of Worcester Arena.
