Worcester Wolves Appoint Great Britain Paralympian And WPL Star As New Women’s National League Head Coach
The Worcester Wolves are delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Robinson as Head Coach of the club’s new British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) Women’s National League Division 1 team.
A current Great Britain Paralympian and multiple-time domestic and international medallist, Robinson brings a wealth of experience to the role and will lead an exciting new chapter in the continued growth and development of the Wolves programme.
The addition of a Women’s National League Division 1 team expands the Wolves programme from three teams to four, further strengthening the club’s commitment to inclusivity, athlete development, and providing more opportunities for women to compete within the domestic game.
Alongside her distinguished playing career, Robinson has built an impressive coaching résumé. She has coached within the Loughborough University BUCS programme, worked with the Jaguars in the National League, and held a coaching role within the Invictus Games, supporting the development of athletes across a range of competitive environments.
Robinson’s appointment reflects the club’s ambition to create clear performance pathways for female athletes while continuing to raise the profile of wheelchair basketball across the region.
The BWB Women’s National League Division 1 team will compete at central venue locations throughout the season, with Worcester also set to host league action at the University of Worcester Arena.
On being appointed as Head Coach, Robinson said; “I’m absolutely thrilled to be starting my new coaching role! I’m passionate about developing the next generation and can’t wait to bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive impact to the team. Exciting times ahead!”
Worcester Wolves Managing Director April White, is excited to have secured Robinson as a Coach and Player this season. She said; “Lucy brings an exceptional level of experience to the programme, both as an international athlete and as a coach, but just as importantly she shares our ambition for what we want this new team to become.
The introduction of the Women’s National League team is another important step in strengthening our pathway and creating more opportunities for female players to develop and compete. Having someone of Lucy’s calibre helping to lead that programme is hugely exciting for us, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the team develop over the season.”
Stay tuned for further players and fixture announcements from the Worcester Wolves in the coming weeks.
