Worcester Wolves returned to action after a three-week pause to take on the Solent Kestrels in Southampton. A rematch from the cup game on the 14th of November.

Travelling Worcester had some unfortunate news as Nuri Seyedagha-Calderon couldn’t play in the game.

The first-quarter had a scrappy start with both teams finding their game plan but TSK quickly got into grips with the game. They capitalised on nearly all of the chances they got. Kristina Karpova scored back to back three-pointers at the latter stages of the first quarter.

At the same time, the visiting Wolves struggled to score on their chances resulting in a 24-9 lead for the hosts heading to the second quarter.

The same storyline continued to the second quarter. At half time Wolves had managed to score on only 9 of 34 field-goal attempts and had only one point from a turnover.

For the second half, Worcester had a big gap to close as TSK had a healthy 51-27 lead.

TSK had terrible news at the halfway of the third quarter when Kristina Karpova had to leave the court with an ankle injury. This didn’t stop the hosts. They continued to keep a stronghold from Wolves, limiting their chances while capitalising on their own.

Kestrels completed their sweep by taking the last quarter but more importantly taking the match with a score of 104-54. TSK scored field goals with almost a 50% rate (41/90) took the rebounds and capitalised on their chances.

Chandré Nunez led the players in points with 22, followed by TSK’s Molly Danielson with 21.

With the victory, Solent and Wolves are now equal on points but TSK does have an extra game played.

Next Sunday Worcester travels to Cardiff to face the Met Archers before heading into the Christmas break.
