Worcester Wolves Dominate Cardiff Met Archers in a 64-23 victory

Worcester Wolves Wheelchair team delivered a commanding performance at the Worcester University Arena on the 28th of march, as they overpowered Cardiff Met Archers 64-23, controlling the game from opening bounce and followed it through all four quarters. Built on relentless defensive pressure and ruthless transition play, Wolves’ intensity never dipped as they secured one of the most convincing wins of the season.
Wolves opened sharply, pushing the pace early and attacking the game with confidence. Layups from Nikita Wright and Ellan Fraser helped the Wolves establish rhythm, while Jade Loughlin’s early involvement in transitions kept Cardiff on the back foot. Despite a handful of early baskets from Hadfield and Phillips, the wolves’ composure ensured a 15-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Worcester tighten defensively, forcing Cardiff into reposted turnovers and rushed shots. The Archers struggled to find clean looks, with several possessions ending in missed jumpers or lost passes. Worcester capitalised through patient half-court execution and fast-break opportunities, extending their advantage to 23-13 at halftime.
The Wolves came out of the break with purpose, producing their most dominant spell of the game. Inside presence of Jade Atkin took control, scoring repeatedly at the rim and cleaning up the boards at both ends. Loughlin orchestrated the offence superbly, providing a string of assists as Worcester surged ahead. Cardiff’s offence stalled under pressure, and by the end of the third quarter the Wolves had stormed into a 41-17 lead, effectively putting the game out of reach.
With Worcester refusing to ease off in the final period, continuing to punish Cardiff in transition. Atkin and Loughlin combined again for multiple layups, while Fraser and Wright added further scores to straight the margin. Although Hadfield hit a pair of jumpers for the Archers, the Wolves’ response was immediate and emphatic. Their bench contributed valuable minutes as the lead ballooned past 40, sealing a dominant 64- 23 final score.
With confidence high and momentum firmly on their side, the Wolves head into their next fixture with belief and purpose after a statement 64-23 victory.
