Friday 13 December 2013 – Worcester Wolves vs Surrey United

Worcester Wolves will be looking to enjoy the support of another big crowd at the University of Worcester Arena this Friday, (tip off 7.30pm), when they face Surrey United in a re-arranged game.
The original staging of the fixture had to be postponed due to traffic difficulties encountered by the visitors and, in recognition of supporters’ patience in the matter, the Wolves organisation has put in place a specially-discounted £5 admission for this week’s match.
Without a game last weekend, Wolves’ coach Paul James afforded his top-of-the-table squad some more time to rest.
James said: “The week-off meant that I was able to give the players a little more recovery time than they have been getting. So hopefully some of those niggling injuries will have cleared up and we can make another run before the New Year.
“Surrey have become more and more competitive over the weeks and especially now with some good additions to the team. They will play up-tempo and will play hard for the whole game. We need to stay focused on the job in hand.”
James has been pleased with the way his side has handled different situations and believes this will be key in the title race.
“It’s important that we are able to adapt our game to the opponents we are playing, should we need to,” he added.
“We have a way that we would like to play, but this is not always going to be the best way to get the result we want. I think we have shown so far this season that we are not a one-dimensional team and that we are able to win in many different ways.”
Wolves’ guard Daniel Belgrave added his thoughts: “We work hard in practice and this reflects in games. We don’t always have the starts to games we hope for but once everyone is clicking we come out with the win. So far from Surrey I see they are young and energetic. They do not back down and play hard for 40 minutes.”
Meanwhile United coach Jack Majewski has concerns about his squad: “We have an injury problem in that we don’t know if Brandon McGill is going to be able to play. He suffered a concussion in the Newcastle game last week and we are a bit worried about him but we will know more once he has seen the doctor. We are testing the American market, and I am optimistic about that, but we won’t have anyone registered in time for this weekend.”
