Worcester Wolves snap up deadly shooter Adam Thoseby
The Worcester Wolves welcome prolific shooter Adam Thoseby to their 2018/19 roster.
English Basketball fans may be familiar with Adam Thoseby as a leading member of the national team to represent England at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. England may have left the competition at the qualifying finals, but Thoseby was still very impressive with an average scoring rate of 14.5 points per game.
Although he was born in Melbourne, Thoseby moved back to the UK with his British mother from a young age where he was first introduced to basketball. He began in the English Basketball League playing for the Reading Rockets from 2009-2010 before moving to Maine Central Institute Preparatory School in the United States to study and pursue basketball further.
He then enjoyed a 4-year USA college career beginning with NCAA Division 1 side Utah State for his first year, South Dakota NCAA Division 1 side for the next 2 years and NCAA division 2 side Georgia SW for his final year. In his final year he averaged 15.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
Thoseby’s achievements at college were rewarded with a move to Australia-Big V side, Knox Raiders for his rookie year where he averaged 18.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game before moving to the prestigious Australian NBL side, the Sydney Kings to see out last season.
In addition to his commonwealth call up, Thoseby has represented Great Britain at the U20 European Championships.
The 6ft 5 guard has been maintaining his game fitness over the summer by representing Team Sioux Falls in the Eurobasket summer league.
Thoseby confirmed his desire to play in the BBL: “England is the birthplace of my basketball career, so being able to come back and compete at the highest level in the UK is very exciting. I’m ready for this next challenge with the Wolves, and to bring back a title to the club. I can’t wait to get started.”
Managing Director, Mick Donovan was thrilled with the Wolves latest recruit:
“We are delighted to be introducing Adam to the BBL as a Worcester Wolves player and really believe that he is a significant signing for the club. He will certainly bring a different and exciting dimension to our team.
He has shown that he is an exceptional shooter, yet also possesses many other strengths at both ends of the floor.”
Thoseby will join the Worcester Wolves as they prepare for their first game of the season against ex-coach Paul James’ side Plymouth Raiders on Friday 21 September at the University of Worcester Arena. Tickets are on sale now – click here to get yours.
