Wolfpack come together as cup final gets nearer
The Worcester Wolves Basketball Club decided to offer an alternative approach with their fans, who were collecting BBL cup final tickets for the eagerly awaited clash with Cheshire Phoenix on January 28th at the Birmingham Arena.
The Wolves players donned the cup final T-shirts this week to hand over the purchased tickets and personally thank the fans for their support.
Managing Director Mick Donovan “Our supporters have played such an important part so far this season and in previous campaigns; we thought that it would be fitting that the players and fans shared the excitement of the build up to the final together. When we suggested this event to the players and coaching staff, they immediately came back with a positive response”
Fellow Director and Arena Manager, April White summarised the response from fans who have been chasing tickets “The response of Wolves fans to the team making it through to the Cup Final in Birmingham has been over whelming. Over 600 of the ‘Wolfpack’ will be backing the Wolves as we aim to bring home the silverware to Worcester.”
“At the end of last season we announced a cut to our season ticket prices to reward our loyal supporters and this has seen a huge upturn in the number of spectators attending week in, week out to support the team. This has no doubt had a positive impact upon the performance of each and every player and helped us to make significant progress on Court.”
Team captain, Alex Navajas was happy to express the thoughts of the players “the Wolfpack are definitely our sixth man and we owe much of our success to their support. We are in this together and hope for a big day for Worcester Wolves Basketball in Birmingham next week. We really want to bring the cup home for them”
Amba Matthews who has supported Worcester Wolves since the early days said, “Getting to the cup final is amazing! We were here 4 years ago for the trophy, so some more silverware would be exciting and of course what we’re all looking for.”
“The chance to meet all of the players is wonderful and helps to create stronger connections between the players and the fans”
The Wolves have their last league game before the Cup final this Friday against Manchester Giants at the University of Worcester Arena. Tickets are available at www.worcesterwolves.org.
