Worcester Wolves to deliver Proj3kt 3on3 initiative
BASKETBALLERS in the surrounding area are set to receive a share of a £200,000 fund to help encourage more teenagers to keep playing sport.
Worcester Wolves are one of five clubs in line for the Sport England money, which comes as part of a new British Basketball League Foundation project to promote the three on three version of the game.
Three-on-three basketball differs from its five-on-five sibling in that it uses just one hoop and calls for faster passing and shooting skills. It is particularly popular in North and South America and international basketball governing body FIBA has suggested they would like to see it included as an Olympic medal event as soon as Rio 2016.
The Olympics have captured the imagination of the public and a lot more people are looking to take up sport and this is an easy way of doing that. The Worcester Wolves will be delivering project 3 on 3 in the community at the following locations; University of Worcester, Kings School, Bromsgrove School, Worcester College of Technology, Worcester Sixth Form College and the Malvern Chase Technology College.
