James Calls for ‘Fantastic’ Support to Continue

Head Coach Paul James has urged Worcester Wolves fans to turn the University of Worcester Arena into a cauldron of noise ahead of Friday’s visit of the Glasgow Rocks, as his side looks to continue their push for second place in the BBL.

Last week’s 88-81 triumph against the Newcastle Eagles left a sold out University Arena rocking, and increased the optimism that Wolves, who remain in a fierce battle for second spot with the Leicester Riders, could go the distance for a second consecutive season in the play-offs.

James is now hoping that his side’s latest on-court achievement can help to draw another capacity crowd on Friday to help roar Wolves on to a ninth consecutive home win, whilst avoiding being swept by Glasgow, who have already beaten Worcester twice this season.

He said: “Our fans were tremendous. The players contributed and the supporters contributed. I know that everyone will have enjoyed what they saw and I hope that they all come back and want to bring their friends with them to join in with it all.

“If we have to delay tip off to cram everyone in then so be it. It was a fabulous spectacle, a special night and a special performance.

“It’s been a crazy league,” he continued. “We’ve probably played our worst basketball matches against Glasgow. We’ve had long road trips up there on the day of the game, played the game and then long journeys back after the game.

“Hopefully though, Friday will see another fantastic crowd; a sell-out crowd and that would really give the boys the lift. We certainly don’t want to lose three times to Glasgow,” he added.

Long term injuries look likely to prevent Disraeli Lufadjeju and Robert Thurman from returning in time for Friday’s games, and Robertas Bitinas is also a doubt with a shoulder injury.
