Wolves Fighting Until Final Game
Paul James has called for his side to fight until the final game of the season as they hunt for the BBL title.
After winning in Durham last weekend, Wolves travel to face the Glasgow Rocks on Sunday as they look to rebuild a fresh winning run in the league after their previous eight game streak was ended against the Cheshire Phoenix.
“We’re still in there fighting all the way until the final game of the season and we’ll see where we are”, said James.
He added: “We’re still there or there abouts. It was important that we bounced back against Durham and came out with a good win. I thought defensively we were very, very solid. Offensively we weren’t as fluent as we might have been but I thought it was a good, professional performance from us.”
Wolves sit four points behind the Newcastle Eagles, who currently occupy top spot and still have one extra game to play, and James knows any further slip-ups could be costly for the club’s outside chances of winning the title.
“From the bottom placed team to the top placed team, they all come with their different challenges. There are things that we need to look at and things that we need to do better against Glasgow than we did last time. It’s going to be a tough game, but that’s the way the league should be. Going up there is always tough to play but we’re looking forward to that challenge.”
Wolves will be without Remi Dibo who left the club last week after having his contract terminated last week. But James knows that Paul Guede, who made an immediate impact after signing in December, will play a vital role in the final run-in.
“He’s had a big impact. Just from the defensive standpoint, just to have that other player that understands the rotations and that sort of thing, it’s been massive for us”, said James.
