Wolves Hunting for Back-to-Back League and Trophy Wins

Worcester Wolves will be looking to make it a possible nine wins in a row this weekend as they face back-to-back games.

Wolves will be hunting for a seventh straight league win on Friday as they host Surrey United, before they travel to the Leicester Riders on Saturday hoping to book their place in the semi-final of the British Basketball League Trophy.

Kalil Irving could sit the  out after dislocating his shoulder in training this week, but Robert Thurman is set to make a full return after he played limited minutes against Sheffield last Friday.

Wolves have already recorded two wins over Surrey this season, and despite the visitors sitting bottom of the table, James believes that his side need to guard against complacency ahead of the game.

“In every game we’ve played this year, regardless of who we’ve played, we’ve made it tough on ourselves. I don’t think there will be any complacency at all. It’s a game that we know that, if we apply ourselves like we should do and we play with the energy and discipline, it’s a game that we should win. But you can’t take anything for granted you’ve got to go out there and earn that on the night.

Wolves then travel to title-rivals Leicester on Saturday in a bid to defend their BBL Trophy title in what James has says is a huge game for the club.

“It’s going to be a massive contest. They’re still smarting a little bit from us beating them just before Christmas in the league and we did it without Robert Thurman as well and the guys had a fantastic game. We put in probably one of our best performance of the season against Leicester in front of a full house. So they’ll be a little bit upset and I know they’ll be preparing well for us as we’re preparing for them”, said James.

“It’s going to be a real dog fight and it’s going to be a very competitive game. It should be very exciting for the fans. It’s a one off game and we’ll be throwing everything at it. I’m expecting a real exciting, tough game”, he added.
