Basketball & Netball Performance Days

University of Worcester Arena, WR52JN.

BOOK NOW

The University of Worcester and the Worcester Wolves are proud to provide Basketball and Netball Performance Days to help young and aspiring basketball and netball players actively studying in Sixth Forms, Colleges and Academies.

As the name suggests, student athletes will undertake a series of activities both in the strength and conditioning suite and on the basketball and netball court to measure their baseline athletic ability which will provide the foundations for individual development plans to work on after their visit.

Should the athlete then decide to study at the University of Worcester, the data will form the basis of the athletes skills and physical development journey profile.

The sessions will also provide you with the opportunity to talk with our coaching and support staff about our BUCS programme for basketball and netball, Worcester Wolves and our coach development opportunities.

Our experienced and dedicated Team will be on hand to ensure your athletes get all the benefits of attending a Performance Day.

Performance days last a minimum of 4hrs. We also offer a number of bite-size add-on sessions to help your athletes develop further on and off the court and to demonstrate what the University offer to support their student athletes (you can select 1 of these options on the booking form).

Athlete Personal Development and Lifestyle (APDL) Workshop: 30 minutes

An opportunity to explore areas off court that can enhance your physical, mental and, social wellbeing. Workshops in APDL can range from resilience and growth mindset to sleep hygiene and everything in between examples include, but not exclusive to, athlete support networks, stress management, time management and academic management. APDL encourages student athletes to consider what lifestyle changes they can make to help them always be 1% better than yesterday.

Clean Sport Workshop: 30 minutes

Our clean sport workshops are an excellent opportunity to help educate athletes around what they put in their body. Supplements are used more frequently to help athletes fuel energy and strength levels, but is this the right approach? We can help your athletes understand everything from UKAD testing and doping procedures, sample collection processes for athletes, understanding the impact of recreational drugs or maybe simply educate athletes around checking supplements and medications.  At Worcester we understand workshops and discussions in this topic area can be sensitive and sometimes, difficult for athletes to disclose. We have staff members with extensive training and qualifications in this area and will ensure the environment and tone are reflective of this.

Sport Psych Workshop: 30 minutes

An opportunity for student athletes to explore insights into the mental aspects of sports performance, such as managing stress on court, enhancing focus, and building resilience for training and games. By understanding and applying sports psychology principles, student athletes can improve their mental toughness, which is crucial for performing under pressure. Additionally, these workshops often provide practical techniques for goal setting, visualization, and maintaining motivation, all of which can lead to better performance and a more positive sporting experience. Whether you’re looking to gain a competitive edge or simply want to enjoy your sport more fully, a sports psychology workshop can provide valuable tools and knowledge.

Nutrition Workshop: 30 minutes

An opportunity for student athletes to consider how they can optimise their athletic performance and overall health. These workshops provide valuable insights into how proper nutrition can enhance energy levels, improve recovery times, and support muscle growth and repair. By learning about the right balance of macronutrients, hydration strategies, and timing of meals, student athletes can tailor their diet to meet the specific demands of basketball or netball. In addition, our sports nutritionist can address common dietary myths and provide evidence-based recommendations, helping you make informed choices. A sports nutrition workshop can equip your student athletes with the knowledge and tools to fuel their body’s effectively for sports performance.

Tour of the University of Worcester St Johns Campus 60 minutes

Your athletes will be given a tour of the University of Worcester St Johns Campus where they can see more of our outstanding sports facilities, accommodation, teaching facilities and halls of residence. Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions your athletes may have.
