Two teams looking for a top four finishing in the BBL Championship meet on Friday evening as Worcester Wolves host Plymouth Raiders at the University of Worcester (tip off 7.30pm).

The Raiders are in pole position for third spot having won 19 of their 29 games, while the Wolves are currently sixth with a 17-12 record.

Good Friday’s game will be the first of two meetings between the teams in the final fortnight of the regular season. Raiders hold a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head league series between the two sides having won 87-65 when the teams met at Plymouth Pavilions in early December. Wolves gained revenge four weeks later in the BBL Trophy first round with a 90-77 home victory.

Although the teams haven’t met for three months, Wolves’ coach Paul James has a good idea what to expect from the Raiders: “They have a solid core of six players who work well together” he said. “I think with Plymouth you can’t just focus on any one or two players, but need to focus on the whole team. Last time we played them it was a bit of a nervy game if I remember rightly, but we made some good plays down the stretch and got the stops we needed.”

This will be the Wolves’ third game in a week at the University of Worcester and the club has laid on a special bank-holiday ticket offer for fans, with two adults able to gain entry for the price of one.
