Worcester Wolves 77- 58 Bromsgrove Bears

Worcester Wolves womens team delivered a composed and increasingly dominant performance at the University of Worcester Arena on Saturday 21nd February.
Securing a confident 77-58 home victory on Saturday, the home crowd was shown a display of discipline, defensive grit and a sharp execution of teamwork and skills, as the Wolves continued to build momentum in their push up the league table.
The Wolves opened with purpose, moving the ball cleanly and finding an early rhythm through Marlee Ball, Eri Bukoye, and Stephanie Oliver, whose three-pointer at 2.43 helped establish control.
Worcester’s defensive tactics forced Bromsgrove into rushed shots, despite picking up early fouls the wolves managed to close the first quarter 3 points ahead with a 16-13 finish.
The second quarter saw the Wolves gain confidence in there plays and settle into their stride.
Captain Carolina Marques attacked the basket with confidence, with Tejonah McKay and Ciani Montgomery adding valuable plays at both ends of he court.
Oliver continued her excellent shooting night with another three pointer with Worcester’s rebounding presence, led by Montgomery, Ball and Bukoye ensured Bromsgrove were limited to single shot possessions.
The Wolves composed a smart game play with a selective shot selection carried them into halftime with a well-deserved 41-28 lead.
After halftime Worcester exploded out of the gate with a renewed belt of energy.
Marques setting the tone after scoring a clean 3 pointer within the first minute back, Ball and Bukoye scoring further bursts of points, with Montgomery’s presence on the floor helped Worcester maintain control.
Although Bromsgrove narrowed the gap for a second the Wolves responded with haste, rebuilding their advantage to 59-39 as they headed into the final quarter.
Worcester closed the game with dominance, Bukoye opened the fourth and final quarter with a strong defensive board before knocking out a 3 pointer at 8:05 and Oliver sinking another three pointer 10 seconds into the first quarter.
The team’s defensive never waved, with McKay and Ball leading the charge in shutting down Bromsgrove’s late attempts to rally.
A composed final stretch saw Worcester seal a very confident 77-58 win.
The Wolves performance showcased the teams growing defensive resilience and showed signs of courage as they continue to push their way up the WNBL1 standings.
Team Coach Alexis said “The game went well; we played an experienced Bromsgrove bears team.
Tejonah McKay and Marlee Ball lead the team with outstanding defence. We also managed to rotate and get minutes for our first-year student.”
“Overall, it was a good team win where we showed a lot of growth and resilience.”
