The Worcester Wolves are excited to announce the appointment of a new Women’s Head Coach for the 2024/25 basketball season.

Alexis Lewis will join the Worcester Wolves club later this summer taking the reins of the Women’s programme for the club, and the University of Worcester BUCS performance team.

Lewis brings a wealth of basketball experience at all levels of the game.

Lewis has been coaching basketball since 2007 where he started his journey coaching at the NBA Philadelphia 76ers Summer camps. He began coaching full time in 2011 with Greenhouse Sports (one of our partners) as a Head Coach at a school and with their club Greenhouse Pioneers, before joining Sussex Storm and Milton Keynes Breakers.  During this time Lewis has coached League since 2012 at all age groups from U12 to U18s both boys and girls, and most recently Division 2/3 Men.  Lewis has also coached on the Basketball England talent pathway since 2017, coaching U15 Girls and the U16 Boys at tournaments across Europe, including the Four Nations in Ireland (which they won) last March.

Lewis not only brings a high level of coaching and community experience to the programme, but he also has a wealth of connections and networks we can build upon as we strengthen our programme.

Lewis will play a pivotal role in the club’s community programme and the development of basketball players from grass roots to elite athletes.

Lewis cannot wait to get started and get the 2024/25 season underway, he said: “I’m extremely grateful and excited to be given this opportunity to join the University of Worcester Wolves as Women’s Head Coach, and to work with the incredible staff and players.  The programme has a great history in both BUCS and the Basketball England National League, and I look forward to adding to it with the team in WNBL Division 1 next season!”

Worcester Wolves Managing Director April White expressed her excitement for this new chapter for the Women’s Basketball Programme. She said; “We are thrilled to be welcoming Alexis to the Worcester Wolves as our new Women’s Head Coach. He brings a wealth of experience at all levels of the game with a fundamental passion for development from grass roots to elite level performance. We are all looking forward to working with Alexis to push the club forward both on and off the court”.
