The Worcester Wolves can confirm that WNBL Head Coach Kieran Howell will leave the club this summer as his contract comes to an end.

Howell took the reigns of the Wolves National League Women’s team in a difficult transition year, where despite some great performances, injuries depleted the squad depth in a very competitive league which saw the team relegated from division 1 to division 2.

In his second season, Howell recruited additional players from across the country and put his stamp on the team. The team made an instant impact at the start of the 2023/24 season and the Wolves dominated in division 2, only loosing 3 games all season, finishing the league in second place. They made the quarter-finals of the National Cup where they just lost out to Division 1 opposition and they made the semi-finals of the league Play Offs.

Howell has also been the cornerstone of the clubs Community programme for the past 2 years, helping to develop children from the age of 5 years old as well as running our adults only sessions and being delivering our basketball camps.

Worcester Wolves Managing Director April White is very grateful for all Kieran has done for the club and the community. She said; “Kieran stepped in as our Women’s Head Coach at incredibly short notice and has completely transformed the culture, performance and direction of the women’s team. Kieran has established solid community foundations which the Worcester Wolves will continue to build upon. His hard work, dedication and passion for the sport has been nothing short of outstanding.  I wish Kieran all the best for his future in coaching and I’m sure our paths will cross again within the basketball community. Thank you Coach K.”

Howell has been a spear head for change on and off the court is his time with the club and everyone at the Worcester Wolves wishes him well for the future.

Coach Howell will always be a member of the #WolfPack
