Head Coach Lucas Warburton reflects on his teams’ performances in the mid-season break allowing the team more time to work on the practice court.
After two back-to-back defeats against East London Phoenix in January the Wolves return to action this Saturday with a road trip to Loughborough Lightning who are currently undefeated so far this season.
On the break from competitive action Head Coach Lucas Warburton said, “This break has allowed us to expand on some of the concepts we’ve touched on earlier in the year but haven’t had chance to commit to due to back-to-back fixtures.
We’re just focussed on making sure that the team know what I’m asking and demanding of them, when a new coach, as well as some new players come in at the same time, it takes a while for it all to come together, and I feel like as a team we are completely on the same page.
We need to make sure that, no matter the result, the performances and execution is what I’m asking for, there are always positives to take from defeats, as well as things to work on from victories, so it’s just making sure we are always performing in the way we know we can, especially for both the Play Offs, and looking onwards into next season.”
Wolves head into this Saturday’s fixture looking for their first victory against Loughborough Lightning in the club’s history. With the Lightning top of the BWB Women’s Premier League having picked up maximum points.
George Bates’ side will be looking to finish of the regular season strong heading into the Play Offs where Lightning will have their sights set on becoming three-time Women’s Premier League champions.
Meanwhile Wolves come into the fixture at the bottom of the WPL having picked up one win all season at home against Cardiff Met Archers.
The Wolves return to Worcester for their next home game on Friday March 15th when they welcome the league leaders Loughborough Lightning. Purchase your tickets for the game here.
