Despite the Wolves not taking the points from today’s game they can certainly take away a lot of positives from the game as they were unfortunate to not be victorious against Bristol Flyers in today’s match.

The first quarter started off with a real high tempo with both teams finding lots of space on the court which allowed lots of good scoring opportunities to be created. This was highlighted by the score as the quarter ended with 31 points being scored by either team and despite the Wolves being behind for the majority of the first quarter a nice comeback in the final minutes saw them take the lead by one point (15-16) as the first 10 minutes came to an end.

The second quarter despite having the same tempo and energy to the game became a lot closer as neither team were able to consistently convert the chances being created. As half time beckoned the scores remained very close with the main source of points for both teams coming from free throws. However as the quarter came to an end a frantic final two minutes for the flyers saw them take back and extend their lead to 9 points over the Wolves (35-26) which was a harsh scoreline for the Wolves as the first 20 minutes had been a very even display.

The Wolves would open the scoring in the first quarter managing to close the gap back down to 3 points within the two minutes of the match getting back underway. As the quarter went on the Wolves looked the much stronger team and were creating significantly more chances than the Flyers however, they just could not seem to get the ball in the basket. Despite this, as the third quarter ended both teams had a very good chance of winning as both teams were separated by 4 points (47-43) heading into the final 10 minutes of the match.

The Flyers had a clear game plan for the final quarter which was to try and soak up the pressure which the Wolves were applying and to try and hit the Wolves on the counter. Despite the Wolves throwing everything they could to try and get back into the game, unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough with the Flyers taking the victory 68-63.

Carolina Marques was top scorer for the Wolves today managing to score an impressive 17 points with Diedre Edwards leading the way for the Wolves having the most steals throughout the game. The Wolves’ final game of the season takes place next week with the Wolves playing at home to Team Solent Kestrels with tip off at 7pm.
