Worcester Wolves Weekend Preview – March 18th-19th

By Molly Mcmahon

WNBL1 – FLYERS VS WOLVES

Worcester Wolves are preparing to take on the Bristol Flyers this Saturday (18th March). The Wolves are looking for redemption after previously losing to the Bristol Flyers 60-63 back in December.

With the season drawing to a close Wolves are down to their last two fixtures and are hoping to end on a high note. With only four wins this season, Wolves currently stand at 11th on the league table. Bristol Flyers are one place above at 10th with four wins and a game in hand.

In the last game against the Bristol Flyers, Charlotte Finn was our highest point scorer bringing 14 points to the scoreboard. With three months of training, since the last game against them ended in an extremely close three-point loss, Wolves are hoping they have done enough to take home the win this time around.

With a home-game advantage, hard work and the support of the wolfpack it is looking more hopeful than ever that Wolves will leave with their 5th win of the season.

BWB WPL – WOLVES VS LIGHTNING

Worcester Wolves prepare to take on Loughborough Lightning on Sunday the 19th of March. The home game starts at 1 pm.

Wolves, unfortunately, continue their losing streak after last week’s game ended 35-47 against East London Phoenix. This is the closest the team has come to a win all season trailing only 12 points behind by the end of the game, showing continued improvement from previous games.

Loughborough Lightning have won every game in their season so far, beating Wolves 67-33 as recently as January 29th this year. The win was at Lightning’s home court. This time around Wolves are hoping hosting can give them the home advantage.

Both captains have been the highest scorers for their teams so far. With Wolves Sarah Hope leaving the last match against the Loughborough Lightning with 17 points and the visitors Robyn Love leaving with 21 points.

The wolves are hoping to achieve their first win of the season at home this Sunday with both continued hard work and the Wolf Pack’s support.

NBL2 – WOLVES VS MYERSCOUGH

Worcester Wolves are currently preparing to take on Myerscough Basketball Academy on Sunday at 4 pm.

Wolves’ last game saw them take home an 85-56 win against the Charnwood Riders landing them both their 14th win of the season and a spot in the playoffs.

The last time the Wolves faced off against Myerscough Basketball Academy back in December, Wolves won 63-56. Myerscough currently stands eighth on the league table to Wolves third.

The successful season can be accredited to the whole team and coaches however special mentions go to Ian Vivero Rodriguez and Lucas McGregor who have been assets to the team this year being the highest point earners in multiple games.

Wolves hope to bring home the 15th win of the season and make it a winning streak against Myerscough this weekend at home with the support of the Worcester fans.
