After a tough defeat to Loughborough previously the Wolves were looking to bounce back this week against Thames Valley. However, that wasn’t the case as Thames Valley made it back to back defeats for the Wolves as February comes to an end.

In the first quarter it was Thames Valley who opened the scoring. The game had a consistent flow to the game with little stoppages throughout the first 10 minutes. Because of this both teams were creating lots of opportunities however it was Thames Valley who ended the quarter ahead being the more clinical team out of the two (12-24).

The second quarter had a very different style with the tempo being much higher and a more end to end style being introduced into the game which had worked for the Wolves in previous weeks. Despite this change of style Thames Valley continued to extend their lead as the game approached its halfway stage as the quarter ended 24-44 giving the Wolves a 20 point gap to try and catch in the final two quarters.

As the third quarter began it was clear to see the way the Wolves approached the game had not changed with the Wolves being the team with the majority of the attacks. However due to the clinicalness by Thames Valley on the counter the Wolves struggled to make any sort of impact on the lead Thames Valley had which meant as the game went into the final 10 minutes the score was 43-70.

In the final quarter Thames Valley went out to make sure they were able to see out the lead they had created throughout the game. Despite the Wolves winning the 4th quarter on points it was not enough and it meant Thames Valley won the game 56-82.

Charlotte Finn was top scorer for the Wolves today scoring an impressive 20 points with Shona Williams getting the most rebounds (9). Next Saturday sees the Wolves play away from home at BA London Lions II with tip off at 2pm.
