BWB WPL Weekend Preview

Worcester Wolves are getting ready to take on East London Phoenix in their first home game of the 2023 season, set to take place this Sunday (26th February) at 1pm.
Wolves have been unable to get a win so far this season losing to Loughborough lightning 67-33 and then to Cardiff Met Archers 53-37. In both games Worcester have been unable maintain a lead over their opponents. Their last game against Cardiff Met Archers saw the Wolves start off strong but then ultimately decline halfway through the game as they struggled take advantage of scoring opportunities. Despite this Worcester have remained competitive in all their matches.
East London Phoenix started the season on a winning streak beating Cardiff Met Archers, they were able to not only create a high score for themselves but also contain their opponents to a low score as well with the game ending 71-31. But in their second match they fell to Loughborough Lightning 53-81
The last time Wolves faced East London Phoenix at home Worcester was the victorious team with the game ending 49-43. Worcester top scorers were Sarah Hope along with Jade Loughlin and honourable performances from Kayla Bell and Ellan Fraser. East London Phoenix’s Amy Conroy was the highest scorer of the game earning 25 points and has continued to be a key player for the Phoenix’s going into this season also.
Sarah Hope has been one of Worcester’s key players this season, being their top scorer and picking up 23 points so far. For East London Phoenix Bethany Wheeler has been their top scoring player bringing in a total of 18 points for her side. Jessica Dowdeswell has earned 5 assists, the highest amount for the Wolves this season and for East London Phoenix Amy Conroy has also had 5 assists.
Hopefully the home court can provide Worcester with an advantage this weekend so they can get their first win of the season.
