After a strong result last week the Wolves were hoping to continue their momentum against ARU however it wasn’t meant to be. A close game unfortunately went the way of ARU despite the Wolves fighting right to the end.

ARU started very strong in the first quarter getting themselves a 7 point lead before the Wolves opened their account for the day. As the quarter progressed the Wolves were struggling to claw back the lead which ARU managed to develop early on in the quarter which meant that as the quarter ended ARU had a 6 point gap 21-15.

The second quarter started off in a similar fashion to the first 10 minutes with ARU once again opening their lead up to over 10 points despite the Wolves getting away some solid throws the clinical edge from previous games was missing so far throughout the match. As the second quarter came to a close the Wolves were behind by 15 points (42-27) and had their work cut out to get themselves back into the match.

Despite ARU opening the scoring in the third quarter the Wolves came out a much better side and looked like getting back into the game to try and salvage a win in difficult circumstances. As the quarter grew the game became very one sided with the Wolves starting to close down the lead which ARU had from the first 20 minutes closing their lead down to a narrow 6 points as the game heads into the final 10 minutes (53-47).

The final quarter had a very different style about the game with ARU trying to make sure they could see out the game after having the lead throughout the game. The game ended with both teams scoring points consistently throughout the quarter which meant the small gap which ARU had finished the match 7 points ahead (66-59).

Player of the match for the Wolves yesterday was Diedre Edwards as she scored an impressive 20 points which was just over a third of the total points scored by the Wolves. This Sunday sees the Wolves back in action as they host Loughborough Riders at the University of Worcester Arena, tip off 2pm.
