After a tough loss last week against the Bristol Flyers the Wolves were hoping to go into the Christmas break with a win against CoLa Southwark however unfortunately that was not the case.
A strong start to the opening quarter allowed Southwark Pride to open a strong lead early on in the game. As a result of this the Wolves found it difficult to keep up their opposition and despite the Wolves managing to gather some momentum near the end of the quarter Southwark Pride ended the first 10 minutes with a 12 point lead (22-10).
With Southwark Pride being very clinical when attacking it made the game very difficult for the Wolves especially with the deficit they had after the opening quarter. Despite this the Wolves battled on making sure to take advantage of the free throws and other opportunities which allowed them to remain in close distance to Southwark Pride heading into the final two quarters of the game.
With Southwark Pride managing to net another 22 points in the third quarter it looked like the Wolves had too much to do in the final quarter as they headed into the final 10 minutes 28 points behind Southwark Pride despite some impressive 2 point lay ups being scored by Charlotte Finn and Sandra Hewakowska throughout the quarter.
Despite the Wolves having their best quarter in comparison to their opposition, unfortunately it was not enough for them to make an impact on the lead which Southwark Pride had managed to take over the first 3 quarters of the game with the score ending 87-55. As a result of this it meant the Wolves would head into the Christmas break empty handed
Top scorer for the Wolves today was Sandra Hewakowska who managed an impressive 19 points out of a total 55 scored by the Wolves today. The next game for the Wolves will see them face Cardiff Met Archers on the 7th of January with tip off at 7pm.
