Worcester Wolves managed to get their first home win of the season winning 68-59. After a poor run of results over the last few weeks the Wolves put in a brilliant performance and got a much-deserved win over BA London Lions II.

The first quarter started off almost instantly with the Lions opening the scoring however after that Worcester got themselves back into the game quite comfortably and took the lead not long after that. Throughout the quarter the Wolves continued to grow their lead up until the final minutes where we saw the Lions make a well fought comeback to head into the break 2 points ahead of the Wolves (15-17).

However, during the second quarter the Wolves managed to regain control of the game as both teams were very strong defensively, but the Wolves were the more clinical team which resulted in the 2-point lead opening up to 10 points as we got to the halfway stage of the game. However, one worry for the Wolves was when Shona Williams had to be subbed off with what looked like an arm injury.

As the third quarter started the Wolves were back to full strength as Shona Williams’s injury was not serious as first thought as she got substituted back on at the start of the quarter. This was the strongest part of the game for the Wolves as we saw the Wolves score double the points that the Lions did during the quarter. And because of this the Wolves ended the quarter with a 14-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.

Despite the Lions scoring more than the Wolves in the final quarter Worcester managed to hold and see out the game allowing them to get their second win this season and more importantly their first home win of the season which the fans were more than happy to see.

Marques once again the top scorer for the Wolves during the game scoring a huge 23 points during the game. Next week will see the Worcester Wolves away from home against Team Solent Kestrels with tip off at 3:30pm.
