The Wolves still find themselves looking for their first home win of the season and unfortunately, they were not able to build on from their brilliant performance last week against Cardiff Met Archers.
The first quarter started off very defensive from both teams with both teams looking like they were trying to figure each other out. However, a swift and clinical counter from the Rockets allowed them to open the scoring. This allowed Rockets to take control early on with the Wolves lacking a clinical edge meaning the first quarter ended 7-21 to the Rockets.
As the second quarter began the Wolves looked a completely different team as they started off strong closing the gap down to just 8 points with the Wolves looking the much stronger team in comparison to the Rockets. This continued throughout the quarter with both teams becoming very clinical with the wolves being the better team out of the 2 which showed as the score line was 25-34 at the halfway stage which gave the Wolves a fighting chance going into the final two quarters.
The high tempo set by both teams in the second quarter carried on after the break with both teams scoring points with ease. However, the Rockets became a lot stronger defensively during the third quarter and because of this it started to become a repeat of the first quarter which saw the Rockets take advantage of this and open their lead up to 25 points.
In the final quarter the flow of the game was very similar to all previous quarters with the Wolves struggling to create clear cut chances. However, as the quarter came to an end the Wolves managed to gain quite a few points, but it was too little too late as the quarter ended 50-74 to the Rockets.
Sandra Hewakowska was top point scorer for the Wolves with 13 points scored, she also was top of the rebounds table getting a total of 9 rebounds during the game.
This Saturday sees Worcester Wolves back at home vs Brent Bulls with tip off at 4pm.
