An out of form Worcester Wolves hosted second highest points scorers Team Solent Kestrels Women at the University of Worcester Arena. A very dominant performance from the visitors saw them ease past Worcester Wolves, who suffered their sixth defat in a row.

Starting the game with a roster of just 7 players, due to an injury before the game had started to Worcester’s Ella Whitehouse, meant that Worcester was already on the back foot. Team Kestrels took full advantage of this, proving that scoring points is no issue with 30 points at the end of the first quarter to Worcester’s 18.

The second quarter saw both teams struggle to match the pace of the first quarter; both teams struggled with offence in a quarter dominated by turnovers and missed shots. The Wolves only picked up 10 points this quarter, 5 of which were from the line.

The score at half time was Worcester Wolves 28 – 43 Team Solent Kestrels Women.

Team Kestrels coach, CJ Lee, used the break effectively with the team matching the relentlessness they played with in the first quarter. Worcester’s Grace Roberts shot 100% from 3-point range, with two of those coming in the third quarter. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough narrow the gap that Team Kestrels had built and extended, shooting 67% in the third.

The lack of rotation in the Worcester Wolves roster saw them struggle in the final quarter, where they only managed to add 6 points to their tally. Chandre Nunez was the only Wolves player to score double digits whilst all five of the Team Kestrels starters managed to do so.

The Wolves converted just 32% of field goals and conceded 38 turnovers, both areas coach Ryan Emery will be looking to improve if they wish to get a result next time out when they fourth placed Thames Valley Cavaliers on Friday 25th March away from home.
