Worcester Wolves hosted Nottingham Trent on a Saturday evening in WNBL action at the University of Worcester Arena. Both teams entered the match with a 5-game losing streak.

Wolves’ last victory came against Trent on November 21st.

Eager to get back to winning ways, the tip-off saw an energized Worcester team. Wolves took control of the game from the first minute. The hosts with Chandré Nunez’s lead capitalized on their chances and didn’t give anything to the opposition.

After the first quarter, Worcester had a 15-point lead which they extended to a whopping 31 point lead at half-time. Wolves dominated the second quarter with a score of 22-6. Chandré Nunez who has been astonishing this season had 17-points at half-time.

Nottingham Trent hadn’t seemed to give up when they entered the third quarter. The visitors gave Wolves a run for their money playing their best basketball. Trent managed to stay even right until Nunez’s unbelievable 3 point buzzer-beater to lift her point total to 20 and take 3 more points to the Wolves’ lead.

In the fourth quarter, it was business as usual for the Wolves. With a cozy 33-point lead, they were able to cruise to the end. Taking the quarter 18-13 they completed the sweep and took a dominating 38-point victory.

Wolves had yet again a strong field goal percentage at 40%. 3 point shots were also a big part of today’s victory as they netted 40% of their attempts. Chandré Nunez didn’t miss a single 3 pointer today.

43 points came from the bench for Worcester which alone would’ve sealed the deal today. Also, Nottingham’s turnovers were hugely costly for them as the Wolves capitalized 25 points on 25 turnovers. That’s point per turnover for Worcester.

Chandré Nunez was the leading scorer today with 20 points today.

Next Saturday, Wolves host the CoLa Southwark Pride at the University Arena.
