Worcester Wolves 63-81 Ipswich Basketball

On Saturday the Worcester Wolves made the long trip east to take on the inform Ipswich Basketball.
The game started with our Wolves winning the jump-ball and Y. Belle-Mbaye opened the score sheet with a jumper.
Estella Maloney-Danvers started the game with two three pointers and inspired Wolves to fight and after 5 minutes in the first quarter the scoreboard showed Wolves 8 – Ipswich 11.
Even though we saw good performance from the Wolves, after first quarter Ipswich took the lead 30-15.
Our Wolves started second quarter much stronger defensively and did not let Ipswich increase their lead.
Emma Wickham opened Wolves second quarter scoresheet with two free throws.
Although Wolves improved their defense in the second quarter, the halftime buzzer Ipswich led 26-34.
We saw an excellent performance from E. Maloney-Danvers as she finished the first half with 11 points including 3 three-pointers.
The Wolves started the third quarter well as Charlotte Finn opened the third with a three point shot, Chandre Nunez then added jump shot and the Ipswich lead decreased.
Despite an inspiring start of the third quarter, the Wolves lost a 4 minute period 13-0 and Ipswich increased their lead to 26 points
After three quarters of play, the score board read 45-69 in favour of the hosts.
Despite a tough third quarter, the Wolves found inner strength and won last quarter 18-12.
We saw another MVP performance from Chandre Nunez, who finished the game with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 17 PIR and became Wolves player of the match. Anna Trett was also close to a double double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The team will be looking to bounce back next week at University of Worcester Arena when they host Nottingham Trent University with tip-off at 4pm which is part of a Worcester Wolves triple header. Tickets are available on our website and from the Arena.
