Worcester Wolves welcomed Team Solent Kestrels for the third round of Women’s National Cup action on Remembrance Sunday. TSK travelled to the University Arena after a loss to CoLa Southwark Pride on the day before.

Kestrels’ back to back match showed early on the stage as the team looked to be a little bit all over the place. Wolves managed to capitalise on the errors and took an 11-0 lead before TSK even managed to score.

Talking about capitalising chances, Worcester scored 12 points from 9 TSK turnovers during the first quarter.

After the five minute mark of the first quarter, the visitors turned the page from their gamebook. Detti Balla lead the way as they started to gain on Worcester.

After a strong first few minutes from the home team in the second quarter, they started to give out turnovers which TSK utilised. At the end of the half, Kestrels had grinded their way to only a one-point deficit.

After the break, TSK managed to unravel the Wolves’ game plan and took complete control of the game. Kestrels netted almost every chance they got and at the end of the quarter, had gained a 14-point lead. Third-quarter was quite the nightmare for the Wolves as they lost it by a score of 15-30.

The final quarter saw a scrappy game with a lot of stoppages and turned decisions from the referees but it was the Kestrels who took the victory by managing the situation. Worcester would’ve needed a monster final quarter for the victory, which ultimately TSK didn’t leave a chance for.

The result means that the Wolves’ cup run ends in the third round this year. TSK advances to the quarter-final.

Worcester’s Chandré Nunez lead the game with 19 points followed by the star of the game, TSK’s Detti Balla, who had 17 points. TSK’s Molly Danielson also scored 17 points today.

Next, the Wolves travels to Nottingham where they face the so-far winless Trent University team in league action on Sunday.
