Worcester Wolves 60-72 Anglia Ruskin University

The Worcester Wolves Women welcomed an inform Anglia Ruskin side to the University of Worcester Arena.

Both teams started the game intertwined and during the first quarter we saw poor decisions on court from both teams.

Estella Maloney-Danvers blocked the last second attempt and after the first quarter it was all even in Worcester with the score at 19-19.

The second quarter started with both teams concentrated on defense and neither team managed to take bigger lead.

A strong performance from Katrin Hulme with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 25 PIR gave Anglia Ruskin University a tight 5-point lead at the halftime, 32-37.

The second half started with deep two pointer from Courtney Gray of Anglia Ruskin.

With both teams struggling to find ways to the basket in the first half of the third quarter, Anglia Ruskin University slowly started to increase their advantage.

Shona Williams got a technical foul for disputes with the referee, Charlotte Finn received an unsportsmanlike foul and after three quarters of play Anglia Ruskin had 15 points lead (54:39)

From the opening seconds of the last quarter Worcester Wolves tried to come back into the game.

Carolina Marques’ game inspired the team and Wolves started the quarter strongly. After 11:3 run Wolves got back into the game and forced Anglia Ruskin University to take time-out.

Despite the iron effort from Wolves, Anglia Ruskin scored two three-pointers in a row and secured the win at Worcester Arena as the final whistle showed Worcester Wolves 60 – Anglia Ruskin University 72.

We saw an excellent performance from Katrin Hulme, who finished the game with 21 point, 19 rebounds and 36PIR.

Carolina Marques became Wolves player of the game with 19 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Wolves next take on Thames Valley Cavaliers at home. Tip-off is at 4PM on Saturday 30th October.
