Catherine Yearron is Latest Player To Sign for Worcester Wolves in Women’s Premier League

The Worcester Wolves have confirmed their third player signing ahead of their debut season in the British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League.

Catherine Yearron joins Amber Loughlin and Sarah Hope, who were also announced as having signed with the team this week.

Catherine, who is a Classification 1.0 athlete, will join the Worcester Wolves this season, and will also be competing for the Lancaster Bulldogs the National League D1 and for the Glasgow Rollin’ Rocks in the D1 Women’s League.

Since 2015, Catherine has competed across multiple National Leagues and has represented the Angels of The North in D2 and D1 of the Women’s League and for Lancaster Bulldogs in the National League D2 and D1. In 2017, she represented the West in the British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) Women’s League Allstar Game, coming away with a winner’s medal, and in 2019 was invited into the GB Academy programme.

Catherine is looking forward to getting on court with the team and making an impression on the league. “I am so excited to be playing for Worcester Wolves in the first ever Women’s Premier League,” she said. “When I started playing in 2015, I never thought I’d ever be good enough to play at this level, but with hard work, determination and a love of the game, here I am. New team, new challenge, bring it on.”

Worcester Wolves Managing Director, Mick Donovan is very pleased with the addition of Catherine to the roster. “We are thrilled at the prospect of Catherine joining the Wolves and really believe that she will make a great contribution at this level. She has demonstrated that she is determined to succeed with the Wolves and this can only have a positive impact throughout the team”

The League will be the first of its kind for women’s wheelchair basketball in the world, and the very first professional para-sport league in the UK.

The University of Worcester will be one of four High-Performance Partnerships, which also include Cardiff Metropolitan University, Loughborough University and the University of East London, that will each be home to a women’s premier league team.
