Worcester Wolves have continued with their recruitment ahead of the upcoming British Basketball season with their eleventh signing, the return of Forward Daniel Johnson-Thompson.

Returning to the club for a third season in the BBL, Johnson-Thompson impressed last season both for the Wolves and the University of Worcester in the BUCS Premier competition.

The 6ft 8 British forward has shown great commitment and professionalism throughout his Wolves career. He has a great energy, enthusiasm and is consistent in his work ethic and output, both on and off the court.

Last season, Johnson-Thompson made impactful appearances from the bench, both offensively and defensively. His ability to defend all positions, drive the paint and willingness to put it all on the line gives him a great foundation to progress further within the Wolves roster this season.

Johnson-Thompson started for the Wolves this past weekend against Bristol Flyers in pre-season friendly and secured 8 points and 4 rebounds in the 25 minute he played.

Wolves Head Coach Matt Newby is very happy to have retained Johnson-Thompson and to help in develop further within his team.

“Daniel once again has earned his roster spot and I am really pleased to see him return. He has worked hard in the off season and extended break and looks great physically. We will continue to work on his skill set to increase his versatility and we will be looking to further development his all-around understanding of the game.

He has been the beneficiary of the University of Worcester pathway and will also return to represent the University program as well, whilst studying a Masters in International Sports Management.

His energy, work ethic and enthusiasm make him an integral part of what we do.”

Johnson-Thompson is thrilled to have resigned with the Wolves and cannot wait to get on court this season.

“It’s a pleasure and huge privilege to be a part of this Wolves squad and to be able to play under Head Coach Matt Newby again.

Everything about Worcester is great within the club. the coach, fans, and all the staff make it a desirable place to be and there’s a family feeling here.”
