Worcester Wolves Recruit Tulane Green Wave Forward K.J Lawson Ahead Of The New BBL Season.
The Worcester Wolves have bolstered their front court with the signing of forward K.J Lawson from Tulane Green Wave of NCAA Division 1. Lawson becomes the clubs eighth signing ahead of the 2020/21 British Basketball Campaign.
From Memphis TN, the 6ft 7 forward joins the Wolves after averaging 13.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in his senior college year at Tulane University.
Lawson was a key member of the Green Wave team, scoring in double-figures 20 times, leading the team in scoring six times and in rebounds 11 times over 29 games, all of which Lawson started.
The Wolves roster is now taking shape and Lawson will bring further versatility and rotation to the team as he can also play in the guard position. He is a creative player on the offensive end and is a hard, battling defender.
Head Coach Matt Newby is excited to work with his latest acquisition ahead of the new campaign.
“It’s a significant signing and a decision not taking lightly. KJ can significantly influence us in a number of ways and genuinely compliments the perimeter and interior within our system. His pedigree is high order and I feel this young man’s skill set and application will help us become a contender.”
“In following his NCAA career, you will see a player who has been a constant and consistent contributor, buying into his role year in year out. I feel he will embrace his new responsibilities and seize the opportunity.”
Lawson is excited to be playing for the Wolves in the BBL and cannot wait to get started this season.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to play for the Worcester Wolves in such hard times for us all.
I have been working hard and I am ready to get to work. Let’s go Wolf Pack!”
