Worcester Wolves Board Welcomes New Member.
The Worcester Wolves franchise is delighted to announce that Stephen Edwards will be joining the Board of Directors as a non-executive member. Stephen brings a wealth of business and marketing experience and is heavily involved in sports and the community.
With 15 years’ experience in the Executive Recruitment sector, Stephen has built an impressive network of contacts and is currently the Managing Director of Spirit Executive, a national search firm specialising in people development and consultancy across various sectors.
He has been a long-term supporter of the Worcester Wolves, both as a fan and as an advisor of the BBL franchise.
“I am honoured and excited to bring an external view point to the Board as both a fan and local businessman,” he said. “I truly believe the basketball programme is a unique, thoroughly fun and enjoyable night for all the family. As with all aspects of sport and business, there have been many highs and some challenges over recent seasons. Supporting the Worcester Wolves as a fan, I am eager to see the team regularly collect silverware every season, yet as a as a businessman I appreciate that is difficult to achieve and I look forward to bringing a balanced approach to the role.”
Stephen has a real passion for sport and providing opportunities for young athletes.
In 2015 he became a trustee for non-profit organisation CG5 which raises funds to help young people progress and reach their sporting potential. CG5 was set up with ex-Worcester rugby player Craig Gillies with the vision of making a difference to society, by bringing together a passion for sport and the community.
With his connections in business and sport, his work ethic and determination to succeed, Stephen brings a new dimension to the Worcester Wolves Board as the Club strives to grow and progress both on and off the court.
“Having sat with the board this week, I was heartened to see a diverse, knowledgeable and passionate group who recognise where improvements need to be made and are committed to working on these over the coming season,” he said. “I shall act with the heart of a fan and the head of a business owner in all things.
“I will be in touch with local businesses over the coming weeks but if anyone would like to discuss how they can be part of what will be an exciting journey please get in touch with Tom Bennett at t.bennett@worc.ac.uk and we look forward to listening to your ideas and explore how we may be able to support your business.”
Worcester Wolves Managing Director Mick Donovan welcomes the appointment of Stephen Edwards. “We have known Steve for several years and the commitment, drive and creativity that he brings to all of his sporting and business projects will be of huge benefit to our club”
Chairman of the Worcester Wolves Board, Ross Renton said “We are pleased that he is now part of our Board and I look forward to working with him in the future on our strategy for success.”
