Worcester Wolves snap up centre Lester Prosper
Worcester Wolves have finally found their additional ‘big man’ in 6 ft 10 centre, Lester Prosper from the British Virgin Islands.
Prosper ended last season at Panama LPB side Panteras, where he averaged 16.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
He is a veteran player with experience across a number of leagues. Out of Old Westbury College, he had pre-draft workouts with Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards before spending his rookie year at Swedish Eurocup side Norrkoping Dolphins and the Slovakian MBK Handlova.
His career has since taken him from the Moncton Miracles, Oshawa Power and Windsor Express in the Canadian NBL to the G-League Maine Red Claws and into Russian, Colombian, Spanish, Mexican, Venezuelan and Dominican Republic leagues.
On coming to the Wolves Prosper said, “I feel I can bring something to the table that could help the team and the organisation get over the jump.”
The Worcester Wolves are hoping that Prosper will bring the inside presence that they need to go up against the bigger bodies in the league, and he arrives with a proven track record and a strong reputation as an imposing Centre at both ends of the floor.
Managing Director Mick Donovan is pleased with the signing of prosper saying, “we have been really patient whilst searching for a player who can add value to the exciting group of players that we have.
Lester will bring much needed support as a centre and we believe that he will have a positive impact upon the performances of what has been an understrength team in terms of the number of experienced players available to play since the start of the season.”
Head coach Ty Shaw added “Lester has a great opportunity to reinforce our frontline and create a tough matchup for opponents on both ends of the floor. He has good size, gets up and down floor, and brings experience to our team.”
Prosper will land in the UK this Saturday, where he will have almost 2 weeks to work with the team ahead of the Wolves next game on Friday 14th December against Cheshire Phoenix at the University Arena. Tickets are available here.
