Jordan Whelan becomes the second Brit to join the Worcester wolves.

Born in Manchester, Whelan started out at Manchester Magic where he was offered a move to Frank Phillips Colleges in the USA to play in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

In the 2013/14 season at the age of 19 he moved to MidAmerica Nazarene University where he completed his college career averaging 13 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Out of college he spent 2 years in the Germany Regionalliga at BBG Herford and in 2016/17 and then Hertener Loewen last season where he averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

As the Regionalliga season finishes early in comparison to the BBL he finished last season at Manchester giants where you may remember him dropping 29 points on Surrey Scorchers.

Whelan who will play in the guard position for the Wolves said, “I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Wolfpack.”

“I am excited for the season ahead and I cannot wait to give everything on and off the floor for the fans and to the University of Worcester”

Managing Director, Mick Donovan added: “we were really impressed by Jordan’s brief spell in the BBL last year and he is also arriving at Worcester with meaningful experience from his two years of playing in Europe.”

“We are sure that he will make a great contribution and prove to be a serious scoring threat for the Wolves”

The Worcester Wolves are hoping for a repeat performance from Whelan against the Surrey Scorchers, or perhaps in the season opener against Plymouth Raiders on Friday 21 September at The University of Worcester Arena. Tickets are available by clicking here.
