Cheshire Phoenix pre-match report
Last meeting:
This is our final head to head against Cheshire Phoenix. You might remember the first game on the season when Andrew Bachman sunk a huge three to take the game into overtime where we won managed a 88-85 win. However, Cheshire had their revenge in the second meeting when they beat the Wolves by a sizable 102 to 79 points.
Cheshire did not start 2017 too well, but have had some good results in their last few games. This could prove to be a tricky match for the on form Wolves team.
Table position:
After a poor run Cheshire Phoenix found themselves near the bottom of the table in 10th whilst Wolves remain in 6th position.
One to watch:
Cheshire have been on fire in their last 2 games and Earl Brown has shown his potential in both, making a massive contribution. He hit 20 points, 10 rebound and 5 assists against Sheffield and scored 13 of 15 against Eagles with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Earl is also 7th in average points per game and 5th in rebounds this season.
Wolves will definitely need to keep him out of trouble!
Player opinion
When asking captain Marek Klassen about the game he said
“We’re expecting another battle. Our game against Leicester Riders was fabulous but it won’t count if we don’t back things up in Cheshire. It’s coming up to playoff time. Every game is going to be physical, every game is going to require us to come out with a championship mentality.”
