The Worcester Wolves have returned to Spain to strengthen their team for the 2016/17 season. Following the significant contribution of Javi Múgica last season, the Wolves have recruited the talented 6’7″ power forward, Alejandro Navajas, who will bring a wealth of European experience to the new look Worcester outfit and look to form a powerful partnership with confirmed new recruit, Deondre McWhorter.

Alejandro joins the Wolves from double winning Marin, who play in the LEB silver Division in Spain. Navajas helped his now former team to league and cup winning success last season, averaging 10 point and 5 rebounds per game. Significantly, Navajas was a product of the prestigious Unicaja Malaga programme and has played most of his basketball in the highly respected Leb Gold Divisions and has developed a strong reputation for his ‘all round’ contribution to the team.

Alejandro is pleased to be joining the Wolves, saying: “I am extremely happy to be here. I feel very motivated and eager to start working. It will be my first opportunity to play abroad and I am very excited to be helping the Wolves and using my experience. Last season I won the League and the Cup but I am hungry for trophies and I come here to fight for a championship.”

Coach Paul James is equally pleased with this latest signing. “Alejandro has a great deal of experience of playing in Spain in the highly competitive LEB Gold and Silver divisions where he has had much success including last season winning the league and cup with his team. We are really looking forward to Alejandro joining up with the team,” he said.

Wolves Managing Director Mick Donovan added: “Once again, we have used our contacts in Spain to advise on the potential of players who can help the team when assembling our new squad. The type of game and style that Alejandro brings will clearly support the progress of other players throughout the team, whilst also making a huge impact within the front court unit.”
