European Wheelchair Basketball Championship Draw

Friday 30^th January 2015, Worcester Cathedral

In 2015, the City of Worcester will host the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships from 28th August – 6th September at the University of Worcester Arena. 450 players and officials from over 25 countries will take part in the premier sporting event in the Midlands this summer. The event will be an exciting celebration of elite sport and both the men’s and women’s tournaments will be qualifiers for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.

We are delighted to announce that the Official Championship Draw will be held in the beautiful and inspiring setting of Worcester Cathedral in what promises to be an historic and memorable sporting and cultural event.

On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 2015 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships, working together in partnership with the University of Worcester, we have great pleasure in inviting you and your guest to the draw on the afternoon of Friday 30th January 2015.

The draw will take place at 2.30pm, and we ask you to arrive at the Cathedral’s North entrance between 1.45pm and 2.10pm. It is anticipated that the event will conclude by 3.30pm.

In addition to the highly anticipated draw itself which will reveal the game schedules and challenges facing the competing teams, the afternoon will be an opportunity to find out more about the European Championships, see an unmissable wheelchair basketball demonstration, and hear from some of Great Britain’s greatest players. There will also be musical performances from local artists.

As the City of Worcester prepares to play host to Europe’s largest wheelchair sport event of its kind and to welcome thousands of fans from across the Continent and Country, we hope that you will be able to join us for this very special afternoon.
