On Thursday Worcester Wolves played their final pre-season friendly before the serious business of defending their mantle as one of the country’s leading sides begins next week.

Travelling to BBL newcomers, the Bristol Flyers, the Wolves will be pleased to have returned to Worcester with a 71-65 victory against a side eager to show that they deserve a place in the top tier of British basketball.

Bristol opened the game brightly, but stout defence in the later part of the game saw the Wolves home. A 23-8 run in the final quarter of the match decided the contest in the visitor’s favour.

Remi Dibo and Robert Thurman continued their scoring form with 15 and 13 points respectively, but it was fellow new recruit Sean Park who came to the fore to lead all scorers with 19 points.

Wolves now look forward to their trip to Newcastle Eagles next Friday, with the home-campaign tipping off the following week at the University of Worcester Arena versus Cheshire Phoenix.
