Raftopoulos Remains at Wolves
Worcester Wolves coach Paul James has continued with his policy of giving young, homegrown talent its chance to shine, after announcing that Caylin Raftopoulos has committed himself to the club ahead of next season.
James has been busy recruiting a number of overseas faces throughout the summer, but his quest to maintain the club’s – and the University’s – status as one of the country’s elite outfits has also led him to secure the future of University of Worcester students Raftopoulos, Kalil Irving and Disraeli Lufadeju.
All three played their part as the Wolves stormed to BBL Trophy and play-off success last season, whilst also playing their part as the University’s team recorded a fourth successive BUCS triumph, and James is hopeful that Raftopoulos can enhance his reputation still further this time around.
“Caylin undoubtedly has a lot of potential and, having played last season within the Wolves programme, he knows what he has to do to impact on the team this season,” James said.
“I expect him to contribute to the team’s success this coming season.”
Raftopoulos adds: “I’m happy to be back after last season’s great success, and I hope to make a bigger contribution in the team’s pursuit of more silverware this year.”
Wolves will open their new campaign on 26 September by making the long trip up to the North East to face Newcastle Eagles, the team they defeated at Wembley in May to capture the BBL Play-off title.
The following Friday, 3 October, will be when the new-look Wolves parade out for the first time in front of their own fans, at the University of Worcester Arena when hosting Cheshire Phoenix.
