Lithuanian Big Man comes to Worcester
Worcester Wolves have re-ignited their longstanding Lithuanian connection with the capture of Donatas Visockis from their BBL rivals Cheshire Phoenix.
Worcester has previously been home to the likes of Arnas Kazlauskas and Arturas Masiulis, and 6’10 Visockis, who was a dominant force close to the basket for the Phoenix, will continue that tradition this season.
Visockis is among the BBL’s top five rebounders and averaged eleven points per game for the Phoenix, and he is looking forward to displaying those talents at the University Arena next season.
Director of Basketball Paul James is pleased to see the 28 year-old centre make the move to Worcester, saying: “I’m delighted that Donatas has joined the Wolves.
“He impressed me when we played Cheshire last year and posted good numbers over the course of the season. He’ll do well for us.”
“We have had a strong tradition of Lithuanian players at the club, but last year was the first time for quite a while where there were none in the squad.
“There is a lively Lithuanian community in and around Worcester, as has been shown whenever their national team has played here. I’m looking forward to seeing them come along to the University Arena to support Donatas,” added James.
