Zaire TaylorWorcester Wolves’ standout playmaker Zaire Taylor has been handed the considerable distinction of Molten BBL Player of the Year for 2013-14.

Having enjoyed a hugely successful first campaign in the British Basketball League during 2012-13, playing an integral role in a glorious treble-winning season for Leicester Riders, Taylor has since continued his fine work at Worcester.

He has cemented himself as one of the premier players in the BBL with an array of typically brilliant and influential displays throughout the year.

The playmaker was the driving force behind Wolves’ strong challenge for the BBL Championship and of course a key part of a historic day at the Emirates Arena, when they lifted the BBL Trophy to secure their first ever piece of BBL silverware. He averaged 21.6 points and 4.8 assists per game in the competition to help ensure a truly memorable triumph.

A regular in the BBL Team of the Week and with no fewer than eleven appearances to his name, Taylor has regularly imposed his class on games at both ends of the floor.

A renowned defensive performer, the 27-year old has also demonstrated his creative and scoring ability. He amassed a stellar 19 points and 2.8 steals each time he stepped out, but it was his eye-bulging average of 7.1 assists per game which perhaps stole the show.

He can also take huge satisfaction from his overall win percentage since stepping into the BBL, something which further defines his qualities and ability to make an impact.

And, Taylor isn’t finished just yet. Right now he is preparing to try and propel Wolves to their second showpiece final of the season, by helping his team make it to the BBL Play-off Final at Wembley Arena on 11 May.

The 2013-14 Molten BBL Player of the Year fought off stiff competition from his team-mate Will Creekmore and three-time Molten BBL Player of the Month, Victor Moses to scoop the award.
