Friday 04 April 2014 – Worcester Wolves vs Durham Wildcats
Durham Wildcats coach Lee Davie believes the battle of the boards is the key to Friday’s meeting with Worcester Wolves, at the University of Worcester Arena, (tip off 7.30pm). .
Wildcats are currently in a three-way tie for seventh in the BBL as they look to secure their play-off spot while Wolves are second, eight points off the top with four games in hand, and come into the game off the back of BBL Trophy success in Glasgow.
Wolves have won both meetings between these teams this season but Davie can see where they have had the edge and will look to address this on Friday.
“We need to limit post catches and focus heavily on rebounding at both ends of the floor,” he said.
“Worcester do a great job of taking care of their defensive boards, limiting you as an offence to one shot each possession, which forces you to be very efficient. They also do a great job on the offensive boards giving themselves more shots as a team from high percentage spots around the basket.”
Durham’s drive all season has been to make the play-offs and Davie insists that nothing will change as the pressure builds and they get closer to that goal.
Davie added: “We’re not doing anything different then we have been all year long.
“We’re trying to get better each and every possession, if we put together enough good possessions over the course of the game we will get the results we are looking for and achieve our season-long goal to make the play-offs.”
Wolves coach Paul James said: “I expect Durham to come out firing on all cylinders. They are fighting to secure a play-off position and I expect a very tough game indeed.
“We have to guard against a Trophy success hangover, and get back to the job in hand.”
