The University of Worcester Basketball Programme and the Worcester Wolves will open the doors of the newly built University of Worcester Arena to potential student-athletes and coaches on two open days that will be held this year. The first opportunity for potential students to engage will be on Wednesday 19th February at the Arena, home to the Worcester Wolves BBL team.

This has become an annual event for the University which now boasts a proud record of being crowned British Champions for the last three years running and seven out of the last nine years. The European Basketball Research Centre is also based at the University and there are extensive opportunities for Basketball student athletes to engage with partners throughout Europe. Significantly, the University now has one of the best basketball facilities in Europe with the new Arena.

The University of Worcester Basketball programme strives to cater for all levels and provides opportunities for players, coaches and performance analysts from participation to elite standard. The University also has strategic links with many FE colleges and other organisations, helping to support basketball academies in their development.

Student/athletes are invited to attend the Open Days to gain a greater understanding of all aspects of the opportunities that exist within basketball whilst studying at the University of Worcester. All participants on the open day will get an insight into the programme with talks from the University Director of basketball and Worcester Wolves Head Coach, Paul James, together with his team of coaches from the University and Wolves programme. Throughout the day staff, current students and BBL players will be on hand to provide answers to any questions students might have.

The group will tour the Universities outstanding facilities and have the opportunity to participate in a training session on the court that will give the potential student an opportunity to have an introduction to the Worcester experience.

For those who have a clear focus upon developing as a coach, please specify this on the form as you will be clearly most welcome on either of the Open Days. The University are very proud of what we have achieved so far and warmly welcome everyone with a commitment to the game and who aspires to succeed as a student to learn more about our programme.

The first Open day Starts at 12 noon on Wednesday 19th February 2014 at the University of Worcester Arena with an introduction to the programme.
