Worcester Wolves have enjoyed the perfect start to the 2013-14 season and play-caller Paul James has deservedly been rewarded with the Molten BBL Coach of the Month award.

His team have racked up seven wins from seven games and are sat proudly at the top of the BBL Championship table, having also maneuvered their way through to the quarter-finals of the BBL Cup.

Their stunning opening is also the best in the history of the club and unsurprisingly, James is thrilled with the progress of his team so far and is relishing the challenge he has in front of him as he tries to turn Wolves into a powerhouse by firstly getting some silverware in the cupboard.

“It has been a wonderful start,” said James.

“We are making history at the club and the support we have been getting from the local community and to partnership with the University of Worcester has been a brilliant factor.

“I have been very fortunate over the years to be in situations that have been challenging.

“The Worcester Wolves are another challenge for me and one that I was happy to accept.

“I can really see light at the end of the tunnel with the Wolves now and personally, it would be great for me to achieve success as head coach of my third BBL team.”

Most impressively, James has guided his team to victories against defending champions Leicester Riders, as well as a terrific road win against potential title challengers Esh Group Eagles Newcastle.

They have also seen off Surrey United, Birmingham Knights, London Lions and Cheshire Phoenix in the league, winning back-to-back overtime games against the latter two.

Manchester Giants were their victims in the BBL Cup, with Wolves storming into the last eight off the back of a comfortable 88-66 success.

Whilst James was at the head of the queue for the accolade, both Rob Paternostro of Riders and Atiba Lyons of One Health Sharks Sheffield were in contention, having each lost only one game so far during the campaign.

James scooping the award also completes a welcome double for Wolves, with Will Creekmore being named Molten BBL Player of the Month.
