Worcester University, who partner Worcester Wolves, will be looking to complete their third straight British Universities and Colleges basketball championship title on Wednesday.

Paul James’ team will face a Leeds Met side who are currently second in EBL Division One and won the EB National Cup in January.

The Wolves’ coach (pictured) is excited about the prospect of completing a hat-trick of successes in the competition: “We are definitely looking forward to the BUCS Championship Final on Wednesday, this is our third final in three years and we are trying to win the BUCS Championship title for the third year in a row.

“We had a really good weekend beating Brunel University in the quarterfinal on Saturday and then Durham University in the semi-final on the Sunday in what was a great game of basketball.

“Durham we have beaten in the final the last two seasons running and our semi-final showdown was worthy of being a final.

“On Wednesday we face Leeds Met in the final in what is the highlight of the BUCS basketball season. We are expecting a very tough game against Leeds Met on their floor, but this is a very exciting time for the University of Worcester and its basketball programme and we are all delighted to be going back to the final once more.”

Wolves return to BBL action on Friday evening when they travel to One Health Sharks Sheffield before hosting Manchester Giants on Saturday.
