22 January 2015 Wolves Looking to Maintain Winning Run

Worcester Wolves will be looking to maintain their British Basketball League (BBL) title challenge by securing a seventh straight victory in all competitions when they take on the Sheffield Sharks on Friday.

But wolves may be without Robert Thurman, who suffered a reoccurrence of an ankle injury in Sunday’s BBL Trophy win over Durham Wildcats. But Paul James has tipped new-signing Dejan Radojevic to fill the void left by Thurman’s absence after the Serbian impressed in Sunday’s win.

“There’s a possibility that Robert will play some part of the game and we’ll just monitor it. But right now, obviously with Dejan Radojevic being here and playing very well on Sunday against Durham with 20 points and 8 rebounds, we’ve got somebody who’s of quality and can replace Robert”, said James.

“You can expect to see someone who’s a solid basketball player. He’s a big body and he can score inside and out. Right now, he’s just trying to get used to the speed and the tempo of the British game because he’s not used to the pace of the British game. On Saturday, against Bristol, he struggled a little bit, but he learned on Sunday and came out and had 20 points and 8 rebounds and hopefully he’s going to move on from there”, he added.

The Sharks have been in mixed form of late, recovering from three straight losses to win both of their last two games, but James believes that they are capable of snatching a shock victory on Friday.

“They’re a good team. They’re a solid team. They’ve been a little bit erratic in their performances this season but on their day they can beat anybody; they’re a threat. Last time we played them we weren’t at our greatest. It was one of those games where we had to tough it out and managed to find a way to win. But, hopefully, this time around with the addition of the new players we have, it should make life a little bit easier for us”, added James.
